The return of a *full season of dodgeball* for the first time in over two years is here! Registration for Summer DRAFT Dodgeball opens May 17, 2022 at 10am (CST).
Who: Any and all players can register - we have no priority for returning player registration. You don't register with a team either - all players register as Free Agents and are drafted or randomly assigned to teams (see below).
Where: Center on Halsted (3656 N Halsted St.)
When: Registration begins May 17th at 10am. The league is on Sundays, beginning on July 10th and ends with Playoffs on August 21st, and teams will play for an hour between 11am and 3pm (final game and referee times TBA).
What: The summer draft league is a season where we obviously play dodgeball, but it's a great chance to meet new people and to play with (and against) players of all skill levels. Here's how it works:
Everyone registers as free agents (not with a team). Certain players will apply to be captains for teams (APPLY HERE), and each team will have two co-captains. At our captains meeting in the next couple of weeks (date and time TBA), the two co-captains will draft two players onto their respective teams, and then the rest of the players in the league are randomly assigned to teams. This is a great opportunity to meet and play with new people (for obvious reasons), and it also provides for a season where all of the teams have players of all skill levels and are generally evenly matched!
Don't like the idea of registering and playing with no one you know? That's okay! You can apply to be a co-captain with one of your friends. We also allow for each player to be paired with ONE other person. (note: if Joe is paired with Luis and Joe is drafted to a team, both Joe and Luis go to that team and that only uses one of the two draft picks for that team). To request to be paired with another player, send an email with your name and your paired player's name to chicago.dodgeball@stonewallsports.org.
Finally, I have mentioned this a few times throughout the year, but this will be my last season serving as the (acting) Commissioner for dodgeball, as I have been and will continue to shift my focus on other things within the organization. If you are interested in a Leadership position to help run the league and help our non-profit sports organization, please let us know in an email as well.
